From the moment Hai (our guide) came to our hotel in Ho Chi Minh on the first morning to meet us, we had a memorable and really enjoyable tour in the Mekong. The tour was well organised and at a perfect pace for our family of two adults and two teenagers. We visited the Cu Chi tunnels on the first day en route to a five star hotel (Muong Thanh hotel) in Can Tho. We stayed in a great homestay after a trip down the canals and were taken on a bike ride through sleepy little villages, getting an insight into life in the Mekong delta. The trips to the floating markets and to see rice paper being made and the cocoa farm were real highlights. During the whole tour, Hai gave us enough information to give context and an understanding of how things are and were, but not so much that we were bombarded. Hai was very attentive to our needs (time to rest when needed and swim) but kept us moving to the different activities. We ate some incredible food (and lots of it) during the tour and enjoyed Hai’s local knowledge and descriptions of the different foods he was organising for us. The street food tour was fantastic and highly memorable. We would definitely recommend the tour and Hieu’s for the friendly, organised and helpful service!
